Extracts from the Special Trains Notice issued to regulate the Cavalcade.

"6.2 Movement of exhibits forming the Cavalcade

6.2.1.

The Operating Supervisor at Shildon will regulate the departure of the exhibits in accordance with the details shown in this notice, and will ensure that a minimum time interval of 2 minutes is maintained between successive movements.

6.2.2.

Drivers of exhibits should proceed at not more than 5 miles per hour to Heighington, taking care to maintain the appropriate space interval between themselves and the preceding exhibit except at Heighington when:-

(a)those exhibits which are to return to Shildon may be authorised to 'close up' on the single line in order to set back onto the Down line.

6.2.3.

Drivers should sound the whistle/horn before passing each of the T.V. Trolleys which will be operating on the Down line between Shildon and Heighington.

"6.3 Change in Formation of Cavalcade

6.3.2.

The H.S.T. must be last exhibit in the Cavalcade and should any other exhibit fail to start at the proper time, it must under no circumstances be allowed to follow the H.S.T."
